Recessions have been said to increase gambling activity or perhaps it means that this is an industry that doesn’t decline during tough times. You will get all sorts of different gambling behaviors during a recession.
Some players know they can’t afford their $20/week sportsbetting habit and will quit completely. Some gaming companies have noticed some players who will stop gambling or at least slow down faster stating they can’t keep up the spending.
Others are new players who turn to gambling as a potential means to destress or try to win their way out of debt. This of course is bad money management but it certainly isn’t rare. These new players do add more money into the gambling economy. Players emotions become a bigger factor and they will start.
Some existing players will simply play more. They might spend a bit extra than they normally would.
Whatever happens during tough times and recessions save your money and stop gambling. Or join the other side and work in the gambling industry itself.
